Matthew Coles is a Research Fellow at the Institute with a focus on the practical applications of ancient and contemporary Realist philosophy for the domains of business and education. The youngest scholar on the Institute team, Matt is currently engaged in graduate studies towards a Ph.D. in Philosophy at the Catholic University of America. His research interests include the Realist Philosophy of Work and the Aristotelian Intellectual Virtues, and he has worked with several pre-eminent scholars in his field – including Robert Sokolowski and Marie-Dominique Philippe.

A Summa Cum Laude and Research Fellows Honor Graduate from Texas A&M University, Matt has studied overseas at L’Université de Lausanne and École de Francais Moderne, holds degrees in Philosophy and French and is a member of Phi Beta Kappa. He and his wife, Lucy, currently reside in Washington, D.C. They are volunteer youth ministers at their church, and are eagerly awaiting the birth of their first child.
