Leadership Training

Are leaders born or are they made? That question has challenged historians and social scientists for ages. Since WWII, the use of military metaphors to explain and motivate both leaders and followers entered into the psyche of modern management. During the 1960s, the rise of sports metaphors began to dominate the language of success. Concurrently, the rise and promotion of participatory management structures came into conflict with the perceived authoritarian approach of the former military view.

At the root, the conflict between authoritarian and participatory leadership structures glossed over the more basic deficiency. Leadership is an essential - not optional - part of human experience and necessary for growth, change and success. Good leaders and bad leaders arise in every generation.

Leaders are judged by their capacity to get results. But what kind of results? Here at the Institute, we believe that the ends achieved not just the means employed, speak volumes to the quality of the leader. Good leadership leaves a good legacy.

We help your organization to develop real leaders who learn to win the right way. We promote and teach fundamental priorities that good leaders practice and bad leaders violate. We also help leaders to understand the necessary style required for effectiveness and success. For example, do your leaders understand the difference and importance between:

  • Authoritative and authoritarian leadership?
  • Competence and character?
  • Power and principles?
  • Leader-centered and collaborative approaches?
  • Risk and reward?

Our coaching and training program helps your organization to develop good employees into highly effective leaders.

Are leaders born or are they made?

One of the greatest leaders in Spain's history is "El Cid." A man of  great political skill and integrity, he successfully navigated the complex cultural, economic and political challenges of his time ~ one which has significant parallels to today.

Respected by all (Christian and Muslim), the "Cid" was an example of selfless leadership who demonstrated a mastery of the "political prudence" that Aristotle found necessary in effective and moral leadership.
